The week-end is here again my dear bloggers. So what treat do I have for you? How about "A Lot Like Love"?
While flying from Los Angeles to New York, the "good boy" Oliver Martin (Ashton Kutcher) meets the "bad girl" Emily Friehl (Amanda Peet) and they have sex in the restroom. They stay together along the day in New York, when Oliver discloses the planning of his life - his future career, successful job and then raising a family. He gives the phone number of his mother to Emily and asks her to call seven years later to check. For seven years, they occasionally meet each other, and in the end, their relationship becomes love.
With A Lot Like Lemon Sobet....|
Lemon Sorbet
From Country Living
This recipe has been tested by Country Living
INGREDIENTS conv. chart U.S. Metric
10 sprig(s) mint, stemmed
4 teaspoon(s) mint sprigs, finely chopped
3 sprig(s) thyme
3 cup(s) sugar
3 cup(s) lemon juice
1 teaspoon(s) lemon zest, finely grated
DIRECTIONS
1. Combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in three small saucepans. Add the mint leaves to one pan and the thyme sprigs to another. Bring all three to a boil, remove from the heat, and steep for 12 minutes. Strain each steeping mixture into a separate bowl, stir 1 cup lemon juice into each, and cool completely. Process each batch separately -- starting with plain and ending with thyme -- in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions for sorbet. Stir the finely chopped mint into the mint-infused sorbet once it has set. Stir the lemon zest into the plain lemon mixture when it has set. Place a film of plastic wrap directly on the sorbet surface in an airtight container and freeze until firm -- about 1 hour.
TIPS & TECHNIQUES
In your quest for great zest, seek lemons that are plump and heavy for their size. Bright yellow fruits with glossy, fine-grained skin are the juiciest. Timesaver: Slightly soften 2 cups of your favorite lemon sorbet and stir in the finely chopped mint or fresh-grated lemon zest.

~Warhol's Junk Becomes Inspirational Treasure
Well I has going to clean my house today but, now...LOL Anyone want 1 worn out flip flip, some old magazines, and some junk mail? I don't want to wreck someones inspiration. :)
Warhol's Junk Becomes Inspirational Treasure

PITTSBURGH – A cardboard lid is lifted and four archivists peer inside. A postal box from Paris. Who sent it? A piece of crusty wedding cake. Whose? Another box: $17,000 in cash. Yet another: An autographed picture of a naked Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
These are some of the many items workers have uncovered as they sift through 610 cardboard boxes, filing cabinets and even a shipping container filled with what would be considered junk by most people but has a whole different meaning since it was collected by pop artist Andy Warhol.
The archivists, hired with $600,000 from the Andy Warhol Foundation and several other smaller grants, have six years to comb through everything from taxi cab receipts to fan mail, meticulously cataloguing, photographing and, when possible, researching the often bizarre items before entering them into a database.
“He really didn’t like organization and there would be several boxes going at a time,” says Matt Wrbican, who is overseeing the cumbersome project.
Now the spouses of the 19 heads of states and representatives of the European Union coming to Pittsburgh in September for the Group of 20 global economic summit may also get a peek at the papers, stamps, photos, gifts and nicknacks that made up Warhol’s life.
See more items found in Andy Warhol’s Time Capsul.
“I would like to give them a Warhol experience,” says Thomas Sokolowski, director of The Andy Warhol Museum, who will host the spouses for lunch during the Sept. 24-25 summit.
The idea, he says, is to give them white smocks and gloves, just as the archivists wear, and a box to sift through.
The White House hasn’t decided whether to go for it, he says, and if it does, any boxes would be vetted in advance to ensure nothing crops up that is offensive – such as porn – or truly disgusting – like the oozing, decades-old soup cans Warhol often dumped inside.
Warhol was never one to throw things away, Wrbican says. In fact, when he died in 1987 at 58, his four-story Manhattan townhouse was packed with stuff: shopping bags filled with antiques, clothes, books and other artifacts from his daily expeditions, boxes, piles of furniture and even a drawer of gems worth $1 million.
“The only rooms that looked like a normal house were the bathroom and the kitchen,” says Wrbican, who has been going through the artist’s things since 1991.
However, there was no rhyme or reason to the collecting until about 1973. That’s when a Warhol associate suggested the artist carry a box around to dump things inside. Each “time capsule” was filled, taped shut, dated and sent to a New Jersey storage facility.
In the 18 months since the project began, the archivists have opened 177 boxes – each with an average of 400 items, some with as many as 1,200. Today, Wrbican said, just one of the boxes is insured for the amount of money the time capsule collection was appraised at a few years after Warhol’s death.

In September, the archivists will begin blogging about the “Object of the Week.”
What could appear: Wrbican’s favorite, a mummified human foot belonging to an ancient Egyptian; a Ramones’ 45 record signed by the punk rock band’s lead singer Joey Ramone, found by cataloger Marie Elia; or the orange nutbread cataloger Liz Scott discovered – sent to Warhol by one of his Pittsburgh-area cousins with a note telling him to enjoy it with a cup of coffee.
“So he just threw it in a box,” Scott laughs, twisting her face to describe the tangy smell that wafted out of the box.
So, you’re wondering, whose wedding cake was it? Caroline Kennedy’s – married in 1986 to Edwin Schlossberg. And where is it? The trash.
And how did Warhol come to possess a naked poster of Jackie O signed, “For Andy, with enduring affection, Jackie Montauk”?
As it happens, says Wrbican – who along with other researchers authenticated the signature through handwriting comparisons – Onassis was a frequent visitor to Warhol’s Montauk, N.Y., beachfront estate.
So, after her second husband, Aristotle Socrates Onassis, got a paparazzi to take pictures of her skinny-dipping and it landed in the hands of Larry Flynt, who turned it into a poster for his porn magazine, Hustler, Jackie O sent a copy – likely as a joke – to Warhol, Wrbican said.
“I really doubted it was her signature at first,” he says. “But it really matches her writing.”

~Paris When It Sizzles...Week-End
Happy Friday everyone! For this week-end I bring you the one, the only Audrey Hepburn in "Paris When It Sizzles".
Hollywood producer Alexander Meyerheimer has hired drunken writer Richard Benson to write his latest movie. Benson has been holed up in a Paris apartment supposedly working on the script for months, but instead has spent the time living it up. Benson now has just two days to the deadline and thus hires a temporary secretary, Gabrielle Simpson, to help him complete it in time.
What sounds yummy with this tasty movie? How about French Vanilla Sizzling Fried Ice Cream :)
INGREDIENTS:
2 slices bread, crusts trimmed off
2 2-oz. scoops French Vanilla ice cream
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Oil for deep frying
PREPARATION:
Place scoop of ice cream onto each piece of bread. Fold bread around ice cream, wrap in plastic wrap and form into a ball. Place balls in freezer for two hours and then remove. Combine flour, water, and sugar and whisk until dissolved. Dredge each ice cream ball mixture until thoroughly covered and place into hot oil, turning as necessary for even browning. Remove from deep fryer, cut in half and serve. Garnish with fresh berries, warm honey or chocolate syrup if desired.

~Fashionable TV
As Summer wears me down in the Tucson heat I can't help but, being happy of the return of 2 of the most fashionable shows on television. First this week was the return of Mad Men. Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative AMC drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell.
Then returning Aug. 20 th is Season 6 of Project Runway. Hopefully these 2 shows will help me make it through these next few months of Summer.

~Cactus Flower...Week-End
I have been super busy the last few weeks & haven't blogger much but, I did want to give you a week-end movie. This week-end I give you "Cactus Flower". I'm pretty sure more of you out there haven't see this little gem .
"Cactus Flower"1969
A middle-aged dentist finds himself wild about a kooky young girl, while his nurse/assistant finds herself falling in love with him. Stars Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman, and Goldie Hawn. The film is adapted from an earlier Broadway stage play, written by Abe Burrows, which in turn was based upon the French play Fleur de cactus. The film was the seventh highest grossing film of 1970.
and your eats...
Ingrid Bergman Blueberry-Lavender Ice Cream
From Country Living
3 cup(s) heavy cream
1 cup(s) whole milk
1 tablespoon(s) dried lavender flowers
8 large egg yolks
1/2 cup(s) sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1 cup(s) blueberries
DIRECTIONS
1. Make the ice-cream base: Scald the cream, milk, and lavender flowers in a medium saucepan. Remove pan from heat, cover, and allow to steep for 30 minutes. Fill a large bowl halfway with water and ice and set aside. Strain the mixture back into the saucepan and heat just until it reaches a boil. Whisk the egg yolks and sugar in a large bowl until they become thick and pale. Whisking constantly, add the hot milk in a slow, steady stream to the yolk mixture. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly using a wooden spoon, until the mixture coats the back of the spoon -- about 2 minutes. Immediately remove from heat, strain, and cool completely in the prepared ice bath. Stir in the vanilla extract.
2. Make the ice cream: Process in an ice-cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions. Transfer to a medium bowl and fold in the blueberries. Cover completely by placing plastic wrap directly on the ice cream surface and store in freezer for up to 1 week.
Two of summer's pretty purple beauties — plump, juicy blueberries and fragrant lavender blossoms — join with cream, eggs, and sugar to make rich French-custard-style Blueberry-Lavender Ice Cream. To take advantage of the entire berry season, consider substituting blackberries for blueberries.

~Scent of Green Papaya ...Week-End
For this week-ends movie dear bloggers I give you Scent of Green Papaya a Vietnamese movie about a young girl, Mui, that becomes a servant for a rich family. The family consists of a frequently absent husband, a wife and two young boys. When the husband leaves, he takes all the household's money. As Mui grows up, the family falls on hard times, and eventually she becomes a servant for a pianist who befriends the family. That man is engaged to be married, but he prefers playing the piano to spending time with his fiance. One night, after blowing off his fiance yet again, the pianist sleeps with Mui. The engagement is broken off. The pianist starts teaching Mui how to read. A pregnant Mui reads to her unborn child.
And to eat...
Scent of Papaya Tarts
Papaya Filling
* 3 cups papayas (1 large or two medium Papaya)
* 2 cups sugar
* 3 tablespoons lime juice (about 4 limes)
* 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
* 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
* 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
* 2 tablespoons margarine
* 1 pinch salt
Crust
* 4 cups flour
* 4 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 1/4 cups margarine
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1 1/3 cups milk
Directions
1.
Filling:.
2.
Peel your pawpaw and remove the seeds. Cut up into chunks roughly 1 square inch. Place Papaya in a pot. Cover with water, add salt, cover the pot, and boil until soft.
3.
When done, drain off the water and cool. Use a cook spoon to mash and force the papaya through a strainer.
4.
Squeeze the limes and add the juice. Be careful to not add any seeds. Stir in margarine, vanilla, and cinnamon(or nutmeg).
5.
Add 1 1/2 cup of sugar, stir, and taste. Slowly add remaining sugar to your taste. I use the entire 2 cups because I like it very sweet. You may not. Mix well and set aside.
6.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
7.
Pie Crust:.
8.
Measure out and combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Use a fork to cut the butter into the flour. To cut, you simply mash the margarine into small pieces while mixing in the flour. Cut and mix until the small pieces of butter are more or less spread out in the flour.
9.
Stir sugar in the milk. Pour sweetened milk into flour mixture. Fold milk into flour evenly.
10.
Use your hands to gather dough into a ball. Place on lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into four pieces. Use a rolling pin to flatten each piece of dough.
11.
Divide it into two sections for easy handling. Roll the dough out flat on a lightly floured surface as shown in the photo. Use a large round cookie cutter to cut the dough into circles.
12.
Spoon the filling in to the center of the dough and fold over. Seal the edges with a fork.
13.
Grease and flour a cookie sheet. Place the tarts on the cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown (about 20-25 minutes.)

~John hughes R.I.P.
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." ~Ferris Bueller
Sadly today the voice of my teenage years passed away of a heart attack. John gave me movies that I still can quote word for word to this day. He is will be missed greatly!
